I'd suggest you'd want stuff that you can't buy already ?
K98 in Tanaka form is about as good as it will get for any bolt action rifle , a corresponding Lee Enfield of whatever flavour would be ideal .
The M14 / Garand conversions also seem to keep a lot of folk happy .
SMGs for both sides are covered by MP40 / Sten / Thompson /MP44 how many more flavours of short barrel AEG is really required .I'd love an MP28/34 but there's no need for one
Support weapons .....are they really neccesary in large numbers ? The high cost of Brens , MG42 and 30 cals has kept their numbers down which is probably a good thing TBH given 20 side events. If we all had MG34s for £150 would it improve or detract from the games .
G43 - nice but would suggest not used in huge numbers and mainly later war ? Equally FG42 .
it's weapons that open up other possibilites is what you need, cheapo MN springer or PPSH , and then you can do a lot more Eastern Front stuff . Given the popularity of AK47s I'm surprised more Russian stuff hasn't come forward. Plus once you got one manufacturer doing drum fed, 1928 Thompson a go-er ?

i dunno, whilst the Tanaka's are great, they (like warren's enfields) are off the price range for most of us.
until working, affordable (not necessarily chinese) springer k98 and enfield's come out, it'll severely limit rifle use.

But if there were a decent clone of the Tanaka K98, it would be much cheaper (and more readily available). It really wouldn't be too hard for someone to make a gas Lee Enfield either to be honest.

When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
The tanaka is a bit pricey but its a damn fine airsoft rifle..You get what you pay for..!
A SMLE would be nice and a gas one would be even nicer..
Maybe a russian line up? Moisin Nagants;Tokarevs and Ppsh:s..
And it would be nice with some support weapons..apparentlty theres aType 99 in the making but i would rather see affordable MG34-42 or Brens..

I hate to disagree... give me a springer any day...
I already have a SMLE springer!.. ![]()
I will soon as well.
But a gas gun can be unreliable, unpredictable and requires a power source that a springer doesn't... Springer rifles have to win out every time surely?
The best type of M1 would probably be an AEG, fixed to semi auto. You'd need an emergency full-auto switch to get out of locked gearbox issues, like on the SLR.
But what to do about mags? Clearly the garand is a different beast from most auto guns in that it has no mag as such. The enbloc is more like the old stripper clips used on the bolt action rifles.
That's probably why we've not seen one yet...
Infantry men need an infantry rifle, period
Agreed!
in fact, a range of 4 springers, one for each of the big powers, would sell by the shedload. One set of mechanics, and the rest is just cosmetic woodwork and fittings.
Would be really novel (but not economically viable) if a system where a magazine for a Garand was inserted in through the top like the enbloc and after the required number of shots a hold open indicated a recharge was necessary.......
Well the marushin 8mm gbb does something like that... well it even ejects the enbloc.
Certainly a top fed mag would be interesting, but probably would mean there was nowhere to put a gearbox.
I think probably something like the M14 conversions we have now, but with a bigger capacity, flush mount magazine would be more likely to work.

Yup... do a springfield for the yanks...
Well when it comes to realiabilty springers are the way to go but theres something to be said about the power of gas rifles..
er... springers can be just as powerful.
My Springer No4 does around 500fps.
same would happen with a BAR, it would happen with any support weapon. we need rifles.like old un said, where is the game play when every jerry has an mg42, every brit a bren and every yank a BAR? open day 6000 bb blatfest perhaps? i think so.
Rifles?
Springers?
Affordable?
(apart from the Garand, which needs to go bang bang bang,)
The way I see it is although we need some desent cheaper springer rifles to really enhance the ww2 scene that is not really Viva's area. As hopeless says from what they have already produced Viva are focused on higher quality, short production guns, mainly involving a large amount of CNC'd steel. To my mind that screams support weapons. Most support weapons have alot more metal work than rifles or SMGs and small scale production of quite highly priced guns is ideal for machine guns as it limits their affordabilty. This stops everyone having one like with A&K 249's; if you want one you have to save your pennies. At the same time the machined steel construction means you get what you're paying for and don't feel ripped off as you end up with a very sexy, weighty gun.
So in short my recommendation to Viva is to make support weapons-DP1928's, Brens, Browning M1919A4's etc. Plus some more Mg34's since non seem to have made it to this country.
These Mgs can also be used for the basis of other varients to increase the appeal if Viva wish- DP28-DPM/RP46, Bren- ZB26/30, M1919A4-/A6 etc.
heavy support weapons - high price has made then scarce, but still there
SMGs - reasonable price, good spectrum, but could be more (1928 thompson etc )
Rifles - Paramount, this is what there needs to be more of, so a cheap version would be perfect
Light support weapons - not that many around (BAR etc )
overall theres several areas which COULD be improved, but the main area of weaponry which a new cheap designer should do is a new single action rifle
Children are our future, unless we act NOW!
We need a M1928. I hate the guys who sell theirs for $1000- who the hell will pay $1000 for a used gun?
um... theres one coming soon from CYMA...
Nope - the CYMA ones are just M1A1's with a 1928 foregrip. Stock and body are all wrong! If you really want a m1928 then buy an AZR kit, a dremel and a sh*t load of spare heads...

No one's actually seen one yet, have they, other than that one mock up photo, which won't be the final version?
I'm not holding out much hope, but i'll reserve judgement until it's out and photographed.
