The composition of the German troops on this day in the defensive line were retreating 9 Army, Volkssturm, V SS Mountain Corps, 86 Fortress Gun Battalion, 103 Permanent Fortress Infantry Battalion and 192 Depot Infantry Division (made from 433 and 463 infantry troops).

That is to say: there is both garrisoned troops (well used to the defensive environment) and also incoming troops from elsewhere either retreating to this position or sent there to reinforce.

With this in mind there is no requirement for participants to change cuff titles (canny players won't have any in any case).

Heer Feldgrau uniform (any) /greatcoats - no camo. Both helmet and grey field cap are fine.
SS Feldgrau uniform (any) /greatcoats. Smocks & parkas & peadot camo is OK as they are incoming reinforcements. Helmet or grey/camo field cap.

Greatcoats would be well... great. At a constant 8 degrees in the tunnels you will be warm enough in action but when guarding/patrolling you might get chilly. The tunnels are 'airier' and much less damp than at UCAP. The floors almost everywhere are dry.

Footwear: Either jack boot or low boots. If you are confident in walking with hobnailed boots on concrete floors then that is at your own risk otherwise rubber soled boots are fine.

There is no reason for the SS to wear camo other than that was what you were wearing when you arrived - it will provide no tactical advantage. It will single you out as SS to the Russians so expect some particularly brutal treatment however.

As far as personal equipment goes we would suggest an A-frame would be somewhat over the top. Belt, Y-straps, ammo pouches, breadbag and gasmask tin are sufficient. You will need to carry everything you need for the day with you, so make sure you have enough stowage space for ammo, water and rations - you will be eating when you get the opportunity, there is no 'lunchtime' when the lead starts flying. :D

I'm not and expert with women's attire unlike you Her Steiner but Dirndls probably won't be appropriate. But felgrau uniform skirts are fine - the Germans will have an extensive telephone system and I have visions of rows of telephone operators in crisp white blouses and pencil skirts frantically trying to connect calls as lines go down one by one. I'm sorry, but that's just how my mind works.

Not sure Dave. Mountain troops are a bit of a mystery to me!

This list http://www.panzer-reich.co.uk/heer-waff ... isions.htm lists the Waffen SS divisions and their designations.

I dunno but Nordland cuff title means changing your collar runes too.

Evo and i looked into nordland for die glocke but binned the idea when we realised they had different collar insig

http://www.waffen-ss.no/Nordland-english.htm

But I thought Prinz Eugen were the mountain division

6th Mountain Div. Nord or 7th Volunteer Mountain Div Prinz Eugen.

No collar change required for the 6th, different runes for the 7th

Mountain Troops also wore different soft headgear, different boots etc.

From my research the bods brought in were:

Art.Abt. des V. SS-Gebirgs-Korps
SS-Artillerie-Abt. 105 (22 Oct 43)
SS-Artillerie-Abt. 505 (Sep 44)
Summer 43 formed as a mixed battalion (mot.)
1943-44 V SS-Mountain Corps, the Balkans
[Munoz: Dec 44 assigned to V SS-Mountain-Corps, Army Group E with three batteries]
1945 V SS-Mountain Corps, Oder River (?)

It must be the 6th Mountain Div then..as they fought along side the 9th Army in 1945

Dont forget Rgt12 "Michael Gaissmair" - Nd SS Mountain insignia was simply the Edelweiss inside the roped border on a BLACK background - Common to obtain..... (I got one in me cupoard as it happens) If doing Prinz Eugen then the SS rune is replaced wih the odelrune. *I got one of dem too!)
After all the baloney about camo - I'd say - leave it at home. Reason? Yeah you might be retreating - but once in the facility - You would have ditched it anyway.

And as we are mountain troops (well not all of us) are rucksacks allowed? Only I have a lovely 43 dated rucksack which will hold all me crap in one hit.

edit: In fact look on Richard Undewood's website - the Edelweiss on there is the one I did him when the first (proper) website was built (by myself and Pete Smith) - A good example. It can be seen here too on his insigniavpages

LOOK! I ham now four meggle man!

I found this on wiki if it helps?

"V.SS-Gebirgs-Korps

In addition, to the Prinz Eugen Division, Phleps' new command included number of other mountain units, including the notorious and undisciplined Bosnian Muslim 13. Waffen-Gebirgs-Division der SS Handschar. As Prinz Eugen before, the Korps was deployed on anti-partisan duties, mostly in the vicinity of Mostar in Bosnia, against the Partisans."
