Yep - no gaiters. Regular Feldgrau trouserss will pass when tucked in.
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
been meaning to ask for a while , the splinter B jump smock i have has a dedicated Luger pocket , should there be some form of holster in the pocket as it's a very insecure pocket and i'm sure i'd lose the Luger in no time ,or is it just a badly made repro smock ?

Give me a big enough hammer and a place to stand and I could fix the world.
i'll kill a man in a fair fight or if i think he's going to start a fair fight or over a woman or.......

I think you're describing the flare pistol pocket, Gav.
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
i think that's a holster for a flare pistol and it was deleted on the later patterns...
Dow well now i know

That "holster" is for a flare gun, not a Luger.
The Luger goes in a proper holster on the belt on your left side ( cross draw style) .
Or put a lanyard on it and carry it in one of the pockets
Ed: sorry didn't see the later posts

Does anyone know which shell available at the moment is the smallest? (i.e. 66 shell) I was going to get a Deepeeka shell but just noticed they're 70ish in size.
Picked up a Spearhead bandoleer which came with this random strap: three buttons, one button hole and a belt loop. Can anyone shed some light on what it's for?
Basically you tie it round the bandolier at the back off you neck and then through the circular attachment on the Y straps. It acts to transfer the weight off your neck.
Logical.
Many thanks.
A question regarding 2nd pattern FJ boots.
I've worn them a few games now, and nearly every time I've ended up on my ass at some point.
Did they ever have proper hob nails attached, or were they baby smooth to avoid snagging parachute lines?
Either way, has anyone done anything about these absurdly slippery ankle boats? As its hindering my charging abilities...
Rich
I had exactly the same problem and I assume that they did as well as I found a few photos some time ago showing studs of 2nd pattern boots.
Managed to find one: look at the soles of the guy on the right

The only thing that could stop the germans: smooth concrete surfaces
If you rate traction above farb you can get rubber put on, or have the soles completely replaced by a cobbler.
Ade, I take it you put some in yours? I can't remember them from Kasserine.
Thanks SCVNGR. I would like to try and keep them fairly old fashioned, as I enjoy the noise they make. But don't quote me on that if i break my neck

I'm no giant, and I know people were a little shorter back in the day, but are jump trousers supposed to be *that* short?
I don't have any slack to blouse them into my boots (Corcorans as a stand in) and they end up mid calf if I bend my leg :O
If I wear them "modern" low it will look like I've shat myself.

I have this exact same problem. Even if they are slung low on my braces, they arent quite long enough.

No, the FJ trousers should be baggy and blouse over the top of your shoes.
The current trousers available from Sturm/Gavin/etc are too short.
Go to http://www.luftwaffesupplies.com/ and ask them to tailer-make a pair of trousers which are at least 10cm (4 inches) longer than default.
I'm just looking into getting a fallschirmjäger kit going but am a little confused with what to get. Is there anything I can use from my existing Heer kit (trousers, webbing, dms boots, helmet etc) or am I looking at a totally new kit?
Regards,
Ralph
During the later stages of the war the fallschirmjager they were used more as a infantry role as there weren't any more drops and more and more Heer kit is seen in pics later on so using a breadbag or a army issue helmet would not look wrong
Most of us use Heer style wool trousers unless its a tropical game ,the Y straps are different but nobody will notice or care ,high boots are a preference but DMS probably won't notice for a few games.
