Has anyone ever seen (or even got) a pair of German army gloves - you know, the feldgrau cotton-looking ones (as worn in many war movies)? All I have is some brown leather ones, which perhaps look a little too "officer-ish".

You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier

I picked up some post war Luftwaffe Grey soft leather ones on ebay for about a tenner . They are unissued and very good , and quite a close match for wartime ones

The WW2 ones were grey wool not field grey cotton. Major gave me a pair of lookey-likey modern thermal ones forgotton the brand name, they make thermal walking hats & stuff.

You can buy replicas though, I think they have the same blue bands that the socks and blankets have.

Edit: Thinsulate was what i was trying to think of. To be honest, wool gloves are a real pain, leather keeps the hands warm and protects against thorns, rubble and those nasty stinging bb's on the nails and finger joints!

The bands are often white though green and blue may be found. The number of bands was an indicatoer of size. 1 band is the smallest. The 'knit' is quite chunky.
There are look a likes [without the bands, which were normally worn on the inside anyway] from the swiss and the swedes i think and Woolworths had some grey wool gloves for a couple of quid. Check e-bay, there are sellers who do sock and glove combos, tend to be pricey so I'd say check Woolworths and market stalls for bargains.
