Hey chaps!
The Comrades in Arms organising team had a fantastic day today on a pyrotechnic competence training course at Tony Lewis's TLSFX factory in Lincolnshire. Run by PD of reenacting fame and ably assisted by Poacher and our very own Major we got to learn all the ins and outs of H&S, fuse and pyro types along with admin procedures. We tried many different pyro types and methods of installation and ignition and oh! we got to blow shit up too - big time!
Look out for more adventurous and impressive (and safe) pyro displays at a CIA game soon
I wondered why none of you had posted all day. Now we know! Blowing stuff up rules. Glad you had a good day.
When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
hopfully me and bro intend to do the same course soon sounds like a blast
theres nowt so Permanent as temporary
Can't believe they were suckered into believing you guys were competant
what is the world coming to
Oh no
______________
A fantastic day was had by all. Absolutely first class instruction! Many thanks to Tony, Paul, Andy & Stig. The sheer variety of devices, and how they can be employed, has given the four of us a helluva lot of ideas about how we can integrate Pyrotechnics into the "CiA experience" in a safe (not to mention extremely impressive!) manner.
Oh, and a bit of a warning. If you mention "pyro" and C-W's eyes go glassy, then retreat to a safe distance
When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........

We wern't. Cos they weren't. They are now.
They even know what equal potential bonding means.
It was fun for me too. Making bangs and pops is always fun, when people get stuck in and show by their actions they are getting into it then thats even better.
Thanks guys.

I meant in general, in jest hopefully we won't have anything like the V1 misfiring again

yes Equal Potential Bonding ....thats "Shaggin a lass equal in weight to your own bodymass" I believe
Yep- it was a good course, and one that I feel a lot better for have been on. Anyone can buy e-dets and set them off, however doing it properly and safely is an artform as Mr PD drilled into us .
Shaggin a lass equal in weight to your own bodymass"
is that possible Guy - considering your 'bling' weight?
Less is more - EPB - I love that one! Always save it for last!!!!!
A pleasure to spend a day in the company of people who are switched on and passionate about their gig.
We managed to (nearly) cram a two day course into a day......
I'd certainly say to CiA players - you can feel a lot more secure around the fellers now..... They knew what they were doing beforhand - to have it re-inforced and added to will make your plpaying experience MUCH MUCH better..... They can now work closer in and get better effects....
Stand by to be showered with shrapnel, covered in dust, screened by smoke and generally wowed by bangs which don't need to be huge but certainly visual.
And remember - what takes them 3-4 hours to set up disappears in a minute or three for your pleasure..... It is very labour intensive so always acknowledge the pyro team's efforts......
And - there is NO SUCH THING as safe pyro - only safe operators. If the man says stay 20 feet away - STAY 20 FEET AWAY!
Well done - Have you still got the new "CiA sign"?
LOOK! I ham now four meggle man!
