We had a list of old boys who had died in wars on the old chapel building wall carved in, you know the sort of thing...

Had that sort of thing at one of the schools I went to as well... interesting stuff!

Inicidentally anyone know what insignia was worn on thewse, i'm pretty sure it was just the late war tactical rank bars in green on black.

Bang a post up on WWIIreenacting. im sure you'll get a quick answer Gadge. Buggered if i know - its not SS, HG, or FJ lol

My old school was the same. Even had the CCF parade and march past on Founders Day, and yes, the Rememberance services had a list of those who died during the wars read out. Happy days...........until they caught up with what school rules I was breaking then kicked me out LOL

Well using such vaunted historical reference as

The eagle has landed

and

Where eagles dare

The strips and oakleaf tacticla rank is the *only* insignia any of the characteers have on their parkas.

Thats about it and even then they often didn't bother. There are the coloured arm bands that were used at some point but they fade from the scene. I dont recall ever seeing them on a sumpfmuster parka.

Crikey I went to one of those schools too We had a pipe band which I was a member of for a while till they figured I spent too much time in front of the headmasters office.
Six of the best was always there lurking.
My Latin teacher was called Mr. Cheadle!....But I do remember those long remembrance day services in the hot Pretoria sunshine! where all the names were read one by one.( Peter Hain went to the same school)

Received my big-size Sharovari (trousers) today. Nothing a belt can't handle, but darn these things are HUGE!

I know Russian Soldiers were supposed to have baggy clothes, so I guess I wouldn't look too out of place.

Order from WeeBee Canvas went through. So in two months time I hope to get my Crashpads and covers...

Well, thats another two packages turned up. Jackboots and Heer/SS breadbag in one, and some spangly Mauser parts in the other. Next stop, shopping trip with Militaria-net and Richard Underwood for the last couple of pieces for my SS loadout.

Oak A cap, Belt, y straps and a shiny, new MP40 with mags arrived today. Have had to contain my joy with it all and stop myself running around my house yelling "Achtung!" a lot.

Not much but it's a start!

Finally got my act together and tried out my Ruskie kit :D

Hmm Ive discovered russian kit isnt really meant for the gentleman with large calves and the trousers are a little tight lower down. Still its nice and comfy desipte being typical russian minimalist.
