The buttons are tricky to fasten without the pole being there.

Yes Chommers your probably right about leaving it buttoned up as a tent, and I am so easily talked out of doing work!
But more expense - need to buy a fifth zelt to wear! ![]()

Yes already thought of that, unfortunately finances will not allow for a fifth zelt yet, will have to hope it does not rain ![]()

Why do you think I'm bringing a rucksack to Volturno? At 600 rounds a life that is only 41 lives
I also got some of the apparently vanishingly rare 7.2v AEP batteries from Firesupport (who have some in), so my Glock 18 can live once more.... I'll try not to cook these ones.
Cheers

At Derby's Cattle Market carboot:
Two Brit entrenching helves, not in brilliant condition, though one looked like it might have been from WW1 - The guy wanted £10 for both, so in that condition I didn't buy...

Mauxion Scho Ka Kola eagle tin

and ANOTHER scho ka kola tin. Two in one day

This is a second model commercially distributed version in extremely good nick. The back printing is well off-centre so I'm guessing it's a late war, low QC production.
Or it's a fake - but for 18 euros I'm not too bothered ![]()
Received my "Hudsons Attack" print and framed it up ready for my "man cave" wall

My great uncle was in 269 Sqn in a Hudson when he was shot down and killed over the Norwegian sea in 1940' the print is dated 1942 but still nice to have the same Sqn and plane
He is on the Runnymeade memorial

Last week I aquired a 1944 dated no18 set!
Whle I wasnt *given* it, it came at a price that was practically giving it away.
Needs a bit of reconditioning but the internals are all good and it came with the headphones and mike.
The odds of using it for it intended purpose are astronomically small (given I can't get lead acid batteries easily and the frequencies it uses are restricted) but it's quite likely we can put a modern radio in the battery compartment and use it as a HQ set at events!
(once I've got it back fitted with an awning and carrying straps!)

From Kettering Carboot Sale this morning (straight from the Volturno game!):
Brit wooden 'belt box' labelled up for 9mm ball (loose) ammunition (like the picture below, but for 9mm, not .303). Post-war (you can tell by the lid clasps), but has lovely clear markings and no date marks on it. - £5
A British military screw-wrench (very similar (but of an older design) to the type used by railway maintenance teams during the British Rail era) - 50p
