Got my pre-aged comet symbol for my FJ helmet. Well pleased as it came with the tri-colour shield as well which I wasn't expecting. Not bad for less than £4

It is isn't it. I've been tempted to convert my walnut G&G M14 to an M1; but it seems such a shame to cut in to it.

Oh, and my new acquisition is a US made 1940 -1942 Argus C3 35mm rangefinder camera (AKA "The Brick). Apparently the best selling camera ever in it's day. Seems to work okay but the roll of 35mm I thought I had in the canon bag must have been used so I will have to wait to take some photos. There was a 1960s/70s roll in there, partly used but the back had been opened by the seller and exposed it all. It would have been nice to see if any images had survived.
The main problem with it is that the leather case is knackered - the stiching is rotten, the leather is a bit dry and the strap is gone, so that is going to need some rennovation. Apparently the cameras stand the test of time better than the cases do, and a solid case on its own costs alot more than a case with a working camera in it.

There is something very wrong with the proportions on those collar tabs. either the mounting board is WAY too big or the Litzen itself is far too small!
They should look like this:

“I wanted to come to the Volga at a specific location at a specific city. By chance it carries the name of Stalin himself. So don’t think I marched there for this reason – it could carry another name – but because there is a very important goal... this goal I wanted to take – and you know – we are very modest, we have it already."
Adolf Hitler, November 1942
"Comrades, Red Army men, commanders and political workers, men and women guerrillas! It is on your perseverance, staunchness, fighting skill and readiness to discharge your duty to the country that the defeat of the German-fascist army and the liberation of the Soviet land from the Hitlerite invaders depend! We can and must clear the Soviet land of Hitlerite vermin."
Joseph Stalin, November 1942

i dont wanna seem a tw*t but Boshman is right the collar tabs are are way off, the bergmutze not great either but i guess they were cheap. horses for courses. If you want accurate stuff try morigi and of couse myself. http://www.militaria-net.co.uk

The insignia on the Bergmutz is wrong for sure.
I've been looking for pictures and examples of original use of field grey wool Trapezoidal M43 cap eagles in use by Heer troops for several years now and I've only ever found 1 example.
That was a very ornate hand embroidered bullion version on a studio portrait of a staff officer.
Yes, pretty much every dealer will sell you one, yes they are cheap and yes they are easier to sew than a bevo one but they are as wrong as it gets as far as I can work out.
You will find Luftwaffe one, SS ones, the odd Heer Panzer one, metal ones pinned on, even a very rare printed one but I cant find any wool ones.
Perhaps you guys have found some you want to share?
I'd really would love to see them.

Hmmm, i thought the mounting looked a little too big. They're from Phil's militaria and i've previously never had a problem with all the insignia i've gotten in the past from him. Thanks for the heads up! Good thing they're for a fictional impression. The bergmutze is from spearhead and i specifically asked them to sew on the officer's cockade and eagle. Aside from the insignia, anything else wrong with the bergmutze? Maybe i can have it altered.
