Reason i asked is SOF have(or used to)2 types-1 for something like £30-£40 and the other that is around £75 and just wondered what the difference in price was all about.

hmm SOF...they has their good n bad points-expense being the bad but then they're in business and if they happen to offer a good and effective website that makes things easy and have a good sales turnaround then maybe its up to the others to compete????
Wartime recipes sure thing Helgs. I remember reading how one woman extemporaised when an extra guest turned up to dinner one time-she made an extra portion of fish with some cardboard(!!!!) coating it in batter too and with breadcrumbs and sat down with that...
One popular wartime dish was corndog mash (corn beef hash), my late Dad told me about collecting dock leaves and nettles for the family meal. Also after war he had a pet rabbit called Rupert. He was in ossie and laid in bed, Mum and Dad come to see him in one of the rare visiting times, he asks how is Rupert only to find 'we've eaten him, and he was tough...' 
yup quite something...
Spam-can't go wrong with that either-Great Uncle Fred on leave from 2/4 KOYLI (just before embarkation to North Africa), visiting Great Grandma being treated to a Sunday tea (Helgs will know what I mean being a Yorkshire lass), only to say' Oh bleedin hell spam!!!!!' (that being a regular in the cookhouse but considered quite a treat in Luddenfoot!)
I shall put a few receipts up for everyones delectation in due course...
