Girls? Fame? Adoration from our fellow man?

Why the hell do we spend - literally, when you think about it - thousands of pounds on dressing up and playing soldier? Running around in forest and fields and abandoned factories with bangers and pop-guns? Grown men (and women)?

I love it

its playing army like when we were kids.

real size action men :)

And i get a *shadow* of the forces camaraderie you get in the army, not knocking airsoft its more that their is a fairly high percentage of ex mob in wwii airsoft and you all know the same barracks, people, stories....

I love it cause it's not as serious as re-enactment appears to be lol

I do WWII cause it's got nothing to do with the "drum mag/1000000 bb's and an M16" games - ie Modern

I like to dress up - hell even if it's repro - means I can get it dirty/wrecked etc and it won't cost £££££ to replace

I joined CiA - cause it appears most folks here are as sane as me

oh - pre-game social's ahhhhh  was looking at a few sites today and see they do summer white's !! where's Kermit when u need him?

Why do I do this? simple:

1: I've done the whole modern-airsoft thing. I used to spend more on a loadout than a lot of sane people would spend on a car. And it got boring.

2: To get away from the white-trainer-and-boxmag-on-an-MP5 brigade

3: No cliques in WW2 Airsoft. Everyone talks to everyone else.

4: The kit sets the stage, it isn't the be-all and end-all of it.

5: You lot are a f*****g good laugh! - the social side of WW2 Airsoft is absolutely spot on :)

6: It makes me think what the real soldiers of WW2 went through.

Oh, Del, where did you see those Summer white's for sale?

When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........

I do it 'cos my first gun was a Thompson (heh, it seemed the only gun available that looked like what a gun should look like).

Young Ade always wore German kit which impressed me, Webby got some US kit and Major kept on and on at me to ditch DPM. I bought Webby's jacket as he was re-kitting (a monthly feature of his  ) so I just had to get all the rest of the kit.

That was three years ago and Major is still telling me I need more kit

However, it all really started to make sense when a group of us got together and decided to put it all in context - no more silly kit on open days! Grown up players, grown up games, and an excuse to act like a 10 year old - brilliant!
