He'll never stop telling you that unless you stand up for yourself, preferably in several different WW2 Impressions.

TBH, Im not sure I count, I have missed both of the last two games, Hurtgen and Normandy. I think work should pay.
Who will start a petition to get me released, it worked for the guildford 4.
I blame my father ... wakeing me up on sunday mornings to watch COMBAT!
ever since then I have been hoked to WWII
I started playing airsoft because I realised I was only spending my limited funds on drink. Now I rarely drink, my health loves me for it but my friends hate me for it.
My reasons for choosing airsoft over, for example scuba diving was that i've had a lifelong fascination with the military and warfare but never really wanted to join the army.
I also like the fact I can say to my non-airsofting friends "my AK47 should be posted today" and that they won't phone the police.
As for WW2 Airsoft i've always found World War 2 interesting but never really wanted to do reenactment - its just not me. Combining the two to make a convincing period set airsoft skirmish was perhaps the best idea since the AEG. The fantastic photographs from Arnhem posted by CW and Gadge were enough to convince me. My hard earned cash didn't stand a chance.
Young Ade always wore German kit which impressed me, brilliant!
Yeah just a shame he doesnt seem to want to come to wwii events....
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
I think a lot of the reenactment brigade should look at a lot of the answers on here-with a lot of the emphasis on FUN,having a good time and definately not taking themselves too seriously or thinking they are some sort of gods as they have the best kit etc

I think that's a bit harsh , there are reenactors on here who don't conform to that description, and there are plenty of nobber airsofters who take playing with toy guns way to seriously/totally up their own asses. There are shades for good to bad in both areas I suspect, just so often it's only the bell ends who stand out .

I've been to a LOT of regular walk on days where this statement applies!!! I'm so looking forward to my first 'proper' CiA/WW2 skirmish...

Yup, in my opinion its prejudice that is the problem between airsofters and re-enactors. Being in both camps allows me a fairly good view of this... and yup... taffpara, that was a very prejudical statement!
All re-enactors do what they do because they enjoy it as well... The accuracy is part of what makes it fun... I know... I'm exactly the same!
Yith and Old 'Un,points taken
Wasnt having a go at anyone as such just an observation.
At the end of the day i suppose Airsofting and Reenacting are worlds apart in what they do and how they do it with each to their own
They're not that different to be honest... They're both areas mainly populated with either middle age blokes or young men... both with an interest in guns...
The aims may be a little different, but that's all.
At the end of the day so long as what happened during WW2 and the brave men and women who took part in it is kept in the publics eye and not forgotten then best of luck to everyone for doing so
for me its like playing war when we were kids.... which is appropriateas I slip from midlife crisis to second childhood

Wasn't it the actual war when you were a kid, mate? Just kidding.
So many of the reasons already stated apply equally well to me - interest in war films/toy soldiers/Action Man figures...da da da from boyhood
If I'm really honest, the MAIN motivating factors behind my new found interest in airsoft, though, are the thrill of dressing up in uniform and playing at being a soldier - and yes, what airsoft guns have over the deacs and blank firers used by reenactors is that you do get the chance to actually shoot people with something - it's bloody good fun and I plan to do a lot more of it -
Old Un - good and bad in all walks of life, and all hobbies etc. - good point, well made -
i do it for the laughs, the friends i've made and still yet to make, the social, the banter, the dressing up, the explaining and enthusing of my hobby to those unknowing and now converting into airsoft. to enjoy myself above all else, to be able to walk away from a weekend thoroughly knackered but fulfilled, to be shot, to shoot others , to throw grenades and thunderflashes, to show of my guns, to admire the guns and kit of others, to get away from the day to day grind, to spend my money on something that keeps me happy.
i think thats about it.
Jeks
well said Jeks - couldnt have put it better myself and it also gives something to do with my son that doesn't involve computers
