I'll save my fuller comments until I've got a bit more energy but, suffice to say for now, I personally had a brilliant day! The site was incredibly lush, everyones' kit was fantastic, the weather was good and the standard of play and sportsmanship was very high from everyone.
I was very uncomfortable at the prospect of playing a "yank" but my concerns were soon laid to rest after some good teamwork, particularly before lunch. The Germans got their act together after lunch (and once the hangovers had worn off!) and gave us a good kicking, making the days' play very balanced.
I hope you all had a good time, your feedback, comments and suggestions are, as ever, most welcome. Now, I'm off for a lie down!

Firstly, major thanks to all the organisers, and to the site owners for just letting us get on with it!
This game could only have worked with players of the highest calibre - a lot of very short distance engagements in those hedgerows / long grass. I never heard one complaint from anybody - people played with restraint, intelligence and integrity. Well done indeed! 
In the morning, we Germans felt a bit lost at times - the Allies were extremely well-led by Heide, Nige and HS, whereas Gadge and Evo were more in game organisation mode. However, winning those early afternoon missions put us on the front foot, and we won the final scenario with literally 5 seconds to spare.
Favourite personal moment - finally, I led a flanking attack and took out half a dozen Allies - it's just a shame my commanding officer shot me!

I had a great time, a real change to do U.S. instead of German...thanks to all for being so helpful, I have a feeling I may be a little stiff next week after climbing all those berns!

well i thought it was great....i was a bit worried that people would want lightning part 2, this was a compleatly different game. written and planned different. the US forces were amazing ( yes, training days really do work) they were cohesive and dissiplined, special mention to ranj who lead his section brilliantly, ( even though he didnt think he did anything,,, trust me you did. ) the germans were as tenatiuos as ever, they just dont give up, its always a pleasure to fight against an enemy that you just know will make simple missions unbelievable hard, and hard missions almost impossible. all credit to everone there, especially the players who threw themselves into there part with gusto(as always). thanks to grange farm for the use of this great site. and well done to all the new players, you blended in with the old hands seemlessly.
I had a great time at the PBI game. Really enjoyed the site - completely different from last time.
Excellent scenario's which complemented the efforts put in by both the American and German players. Good to see some new faces that fitted into the style of PBI events, like they have always been there

As Scaley said, this game was totally different from the last PBI game, although it was played out at the same site. I was chatting to one of the Grange Farm lads and he said that they effectively had two sites, one "winter" and one "summer", because it changed so much when the foliage bloomed into life. He couldn't have been more right! It suited the scenario perfectly and really looked like the Bocage of Normandy.
Big pats on the back all round to my fellow organisers (who played a much bigger part than I did), Grange Farm for the use of their brilliant site, Headshot for the det box, Cholmley for being the combat correspondent, Pete 59 for the loan of his .50 cal, Webby for the Bazooka and to everyone else who played an absolute blinder. Lots of new faces as well, which was good and they all fitted in seamlessly and really grasped the PBI concept with both hands. I saw lots of people trying to stay "on task", rather than engaging in pointless firefights, which is exactly what they should have done, trying to flank or tactically withdrawing in order to achieve the mission. Lots of cover resulted in some very sneaky moments, too many to list.
In the morning, it looked like the U.S side were going to steamroll the Germans, after some very well worked victories. But, after lunch, the Germans really got theirselves in order and a couple of the missions resulted in the total wiping out of the Americans. The end result was a very marginal victory for the Germans.
It's the players that make (or break!) ANY game and, I'm proud of you all for getting into the right mindset for this and not only looking the part but, most importantly, PLAYING the part, obeying orders and getting stuck in.

Again another mirror of all the above comments. Many thanks to the organisers of the event and our hosts. (I know how hard that can be!). A big hand for the players too. Faultlessly enthusiastic gameplay and much more absorbing than the average open day.
An incredible thanks to Webby for the BAR, being his Bazooka loader and picking up my gear from platoon. My first (hopefully of many) of these events so thank you to everyone for the warm welcome.
I'm looking forward to the next event with great anticipation.

I'm sold. Can't remember having so much fun. My legs don't want to work this morning which is disapointing and probably quite funny to watch. Girlfriend very kindly suggested that it is a symptom of getting old. Surely not, I'm 21 aren't I?
I think us SS performed poorly in the morning, but once we got to know one another better we gained cohesion and made amends in the afternoon. Splendid chaps!

As wonderful as ever. A fantastically run game/event/occurrence from those beauties at PBI and a group of people who it was a pleasure to drink with/play with/lie dead next to. The site was brilliant for the bocage and so different to lightning that if felt like a totally different place.
Just echoing what everyone else has already said, had great fun very fitting site felt very real with all the perfectly uniformed troops marching through the brush.

I can't think of a better way to spend a weekend, top notch the lot of ya.
just remembered that fabulous comedy moment when pete 59 was shot attaking towards the dead bazooka team, then got shot a few more times walking away, so we all shouted " if your dead, take your hat off!" he removed his helmet only to have a jeep cap on underneath it so he still got shot at ! classic pete59.
I had a great day. Hats off (no pun intended) to the PIR squad, they were excellent at working as a team and seemed to do much better once I'd died and was no longer dithering about what we should be doing next.

Oh, and well done to the PBI organisers, especially for choosing the site/scenario combination, it really was hell in the hedgerows with engagement ranges getting frighteningly close, you didn't know who was two metres way from you half the time.
