I'm going to be wearing an M36 Feldbluse, M42 Feldhosen, M35 Stahlhelm, belt and Heer buckle, gas mask tin, breadbag, Feldfläsche and my Tornister, packed with Esbit, mess tins and food. :)

I haven't decided on footwear yet - I feel jackboots to be the iconic choice, but I do have my brand new low boots. I'll also be bringing a greatcoat, toque and M43 cap with newly-ordered ear flaps! (Check 'em out in the Deutsche Soldaten book.) I've ordered them from this excellent-looking store.

It may be wise for all Germans to wear there helmets to stop blue on blue...at the last game it was the only way to stop getting shot by our own troops when coming in from a patrol and when the light was very low we'd shine a torch on our helmet when challenged.

Dave - There's a better way than loominating your todger mate....... Kennwort............ a password....... or for those using the taschenlamps with filters - use a coloured filter when coming in....... Or the signal button to send a given number of flashes..... and await an answer...... (remember - you might not be walking into friendlies)

anyway I've gor more on my mind - which greatcoat to wear..... :slap:

We tried passwords at ucap .it did not work that well as the other side soon worked it out. :slap: another time we tried speaking in German. But the other side also spoke in German, probs best to wait till game day and see what the method will be.

Yep...it starts off like that..Till someone turns the lights off ..Then the password was just a voice in the dark.. good close up not when there 20 meters away in the pitch black and the enemy has started using it and i mean pitch black. So when patrols where coming back to the CP it was the only way to be 100% sure

Heh! Dave - Do as I do - Shoot first and let God sort them all out!!!!!!!

A password or a colour coded light which is changed periodically is good - If the "enemy" get hold of it then that's a lapse in security. And whoever gave it away should be taken out and shot!

Cyalumes? erm - Sorry - not been inveted - Erm................ I know - SHINE A TORCH ON YER HELMET!!!!!! :lolpanda:

Anyhoosers - I've narrowed it down to the M42 or the Wachtmantel......... Just how cold is it in the tunnels?

It's 8 degrees Celsius.

Anything lined and you'll be sweating like Fred West's paperboy by elevenses.

Passwords and other forms of identification coding are always tricky in airsoft-type battles - because engagement distances are so short and action so telescoped (compared to reality) any system is always compromised quickly, and a changing system whether automatic (by the hour say) or by command is either too complicated or too confused to work well, leading to multiple codes and confusion.
Eyes-on is always best, alternatively know who you are playing with and recognise their voices.

As for temperature. Well, it ain't freezing down there - there is no through draught to speak of and the so the air is still and also not too damp (unlike UCAP where there is a distinct draw and wet air). As with any event though, its best to wrap up well and be prepared to remove layers as appropriate. Start the day cold and you are likely to remain cold for the rest of the day...
