Use it wisely and frugally...

It may be the only block you'll ever have.

Several people are looking at reproing blanco... Nothing has gone completely commercial yet. If it does then from what I've seen it'll be SOF that does it and it won't be cheap.

As for what it's made of... The manufacturer has lost the recipe. They've been contacted and would be happy to make it if someone can tell them how.

*ing blanco, *ing green cr** all over the place, 4 ****ing hrs of my life I'll never get back...mutter.. stupid British army idea... grumble... :?

Been applying SOF's "Waxy" blanco, it certainly is darker than the belt I had that was already blancoed. Does anyone know if it lightens up with brushing?

Cheers

Having used both types I have to say german webbing is bloody awful, its 19th century design and tends to unhook itself and fall to pieces all the time.

Hi

To resurrect this thread.
I note Gadge and Yith have been in conversation on WWIIreenacting with a contact for a supply of Dutch Army powdered blanco. Has anything come of this? If the contact has a supply, can we get hold of some?

Meanwhile I have procured some Tarrago shoe cream in Olive Green (seems very green) and have sourced some Woly shoe cream in Khaki (may be darker than KG3). The shoe cream is being sold be Jerry on the WPG website as a replacement for blanco. I was going to run some trials and see what finish is like. If it is good I will show results on here. As I do not have any items with a good KG3 finish I would like to do some comparisons at Varsity to items done in known original KG3.

Well I have plenty of original blanco so I haven't had some of the belgian stuff... But I trust the re-enactors involved in that enterprise to do it right... They are very good.

With the shoe cream, it seems that mixing it to match the blanco shade you want is the way to go... I'll see if I can bring a small piece of blancoed kit for you take away with you... remind me nearer the time.

It can aparently be mixed with Games Workshop acrylic paints.

pretty much perfect Click.

You can apply it a bit heavier for best anklets and belt but for filed kit with that 'lived in look' you are spot on mate.

Iwould be happy using webbing that shade.

It looks like used combat kit that has seen a battle.

It looks a thousand per cent better than unblancoed webbing.

Have a look at yith and I's in the 'kit guide' pull downs for south staffs and 52nd lowland... you'rs is about the same colour.

You *could* make it darker to look like a new application but as it is it looks like it has been blancoed.. (probably like its due for some more in amonth or so but it still looks like its been done)

Could you tell us the brand and shade of shoe cream please?
