Just picked a leather shoulder holster at my local market, virtually identical to the american Boyt /m3 ww2 holster but without the U.S. stamp, however this one is British albeit stamped 1971 with the crows foot and part nos. I can't find any reference to them anywhere, anybody know anything about them ?
I'll try to post some photos if anyone is interested.

Hi, regarding the MK1 holster, a leather Makarov holster will fit them and you can also store two spare mags in holster pockets. They look period but are obviously a bit later, start from £5 on Ebay, but would be a battlefield pickup as I don't think the British were ever allowed to add stuff obviously to their kit (except the SAS?).

Can anybody offer guidence on what would have been allowed in terms of non-issue kit for Brits?

Very little if the CSM/RSM caught you with it.

A luger stuffed in your blouse might be acceptable, a yank shoulder holster or similar would be off you in minutes.

I've seen the *odd* bit of US kit on UK troops (one example being a US m3 knife on a gunner manning a 25pdr) but its incredibly rare.

Essentially there is no point carrying a weapon that your logistics train cant ressuply unless you're really in the doodah (like the lads at Arnhem) even less point fixing on a holster for a non standard pistol unless you can secure a reasonable ammo supply as you soon end up with a useless holster taking up room on your webbing.

You do see captured kit but its one man in 100, for PBI events try to avoid it. If you have to carry a pistol visibly then put it in a 37 pattern case of any sort (even an raf one blancoed is fine). For just playing brits at any other game do what ever you like really.

No problem at all, as long as your CSM/RSM doesn't see it!

Who is the PBI RSM (it would'nt have been a Colour Sargeant in South Staffords would it?) just so we can all hide when he's about?

Well I'm the worst stitch counter in PBI... unless anyone wants to dispute that...

Though I tend to keep my mouth shut...

 We don't have one, we're not that bad!

Though Yith might 'tut' quietly to himself if he sees it.

Erm we cant have a company sgt major or regimental sgt major until we fill out a platoon first :)

And the Staffords would have colour sgts rather than staff sgts.
