Nice Dave!

Is that a proper shaped Tiger too, and not a T34 with a body kit on! I would like to see how Tom Hanks would have shot through the slot on that beast, with the foot of steel infront of the driver's window!

Just got off ebay: Mae West live vest, no idea whether it's original, it might be, but i think some of the straps are missing £30 posted.

You lucky bugger, that's excellent value, real or repro it's still less than half what they're worth!

Well considering i paid £80+ for my Mae West..thats bloody good. If you get a piccy up on the site. I'll compare it to mine and answer yours straps question.

It should have 1 round the waist, 1 under through the legs.

From the pic it looks to have the waist band but not the 1 through the legs.

I think thats a T55 based one. Its not real thats for sure. Its not the armour that would have been the problem for Hanks its the bullet proof glass over the vision slit that would have buggered him. :slap:

Thanks big man, the ones in the links you sent me a while ago look more ergonomic / more like what the paras wore. If I'm going for '43 bomber crew might be an early one I'm after.

It's coming from the US and it's advertised as a "US WW2 Mae West Life V" who knows hehe

I think I remember reading somewhere that the bulletproof glass was sometimes removed to let air circulate and stop the tank being as much of an oven.

Not sure whether that is one of those myths or not. :?

I think the glass could be lifted to leave the slit open (there was a stack that dropped down from above)but I highly doubt they'd drive into a built up area like that. Not that they would have driven into a built up area like they did in the film in the first place. :slap:

It's pretty close but not quite the same scale- a T55 is actually a fair bit smaller (& lighter) as it was designed as more of a medium tank than a heavy like the Tiger. Not that I'd complain about having one. 8)

I was under the impression they were periscopes anyway.

Yes they did, although the field of view was pretty retrictive. It was mainly used when under fire from AT weapons as bullet proof glass isn't going to stop an AT round. :?

Nothing yet but just arrived in Hong Kong. A visit to Kwong Wa St is set for tomorrow. I can see a Tanaka k98 getting sent home as a minimium.

OMG jammy a job that takes you right into airsoft weapon heaven. You'll be able to report back on a few as they share the same precinct :good: when I got the tanaka the chap checked at the time if anyone had any left in a couple of other stores as they all worked together to some extent for profit margins (or at least they did back before the vcr hit us here, could have changed there now).

Happy shopping 8) H envious
