I had a good gander at the garand at the travelodge. Indeed, very nice.
Just arrived:
2x IPK's, well they were only
Hi Guys
Just bought a few bits and bobs from Militaria-net - good prices, great service, highly recommended -

Hopefully, you can see: bayonet frog, e-tool cover, belt loops, k98 ammo pouches, SS Scharfuhrer boards and GD equivalent for my GD/SS panzergrenadier loadouts as well as a close combat clasp in silver and a German Cross in Gold to complete the bling for my Richard Schulze impression -
Just placed an order with Epic Militaria - so more coming shortly - ![]()
Stuff finally turned up from WPG. Customs took about 2 weeks to clear it due to tea breaks.
Some props. Note the water bottle is new repro, so useable ![]()
Also the Gammon Grenade can be usefull, stuffed with a bag full of BBs.

Khaki BDs, with wool collarless shirt (not pictured). A nice set ![]()

This is a bit of a let-down though. The Denison smock, brand sparkly new repro. Lots of differences from my 1950s original one.

Why is the smock a let down?
Just cos a 37 pattern bottle is 'new' it doesnt make it *useable* its a bloody nightmare trying to get it out the cradle for a drink and back in again on your own. best bet is to actually unbuckle it off the cross straps.
Personally mine ar eon my webbing for show, i carry a modern british plastic water bottle in my lightweight ressie case.
The 37 bottles are just too awkward to use and have a habit of leaking over your webbing and making the blanco get patchy...
(oh btw you're going to *love* blanco)

"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Excuse my American ignorance, but what is this 'blanco' you brits keep talking about?

Blanco is a cake of powdered paint like preservative.
comes in round blocks about ht e size of a tin of show polish, you wet the webbing, scrape the block and put powder over the webbing and brush it into the weave.
when its dry you brush the excess off.
changes the webbing form the raw tan colour to the 'right' colour of olive green.
It preserves the webbing, standardises the colour for the unit and makes you less easy to see when hiding.
Early war blanco is pea green, late war darker olive.
It can be a messy process to do until you're used to it.
Some units use white blanco for parades and mps etc.
Some units balck webbing with shoe polish, some scrubbed it to bleach it for the desert.
Basically if you're doing a brit impression its rare to unheard of not to treat the webbing as such.
The only unit i have photographic proof of using unblancoed webbing in NWE is 1RTR.

If we have brit training day i'm more than happy to demonstrate how to blanco kit properly.

Not quite WWII, (it's a 1983 Series 3), but I've just secured this:

Apologies for the grainy pics, the seller printed them out and sent them up so in the absence of a scanner I had to take pics of them.
As I said it's obviously not period, but if there's a use for it in game then I'm more than happy to get it involved - I'm going to look at getting two of Warren's GPMGs on there at somepoint
Finally - another thank you to our lass, yet again she's put her car off so I can get something shiny, she's a star! ![]()
Morgs...
I use original 37 pattern water bottles... I have 4 now all drinkable from. As long as you find good ones they're fine. As for getting them out of the skeleton carrier... I have no problems... The webbing gets looser with use.
As for the denison, are you comparing it to the Belgian one you wore at CR? If so, then there will be a LOT of differences and the WPG one will be much more accurate for WW2.
Excellent stuff as regards the other kit!
You may want to get some DMS boots though for Wotan... the hobnails will you have you skittering all over the place on the concrete floors at UCAP. Ammo boots are excellent for woodland though! (personally I'd save the WPG boots for walking out though... which is pretty much what I've done with mine)
I second what yith said.

I think for games purposes, I might continue to use more modern footwear ![]()

Do it ---us Germans will sit round and throw buns !
Our webbing might fall apart at the slightest sign of a breeze but at least we don't have ot rub cake inot it .
PS nice Recce Long Tom , always fancied doing that to a LW at some point .

We can have a competition... because I know we do it different ways! ![]()
from the sounds of it, the ways you two use are almost the same, mine on the other hand....

I can see it now
"Stand by your kit
.........wait for it
...........wait for it
............quick blanco !! "
Whilst we sit around and aplaud
Go German you know it makes sense .

Mine's quickest of all. I just haven't bothered :p
Let's rig up a scenario at the next training day - Brits sitting in a clearing, blancoing their kit, whilst Germans lob grenades at them! ![]()

You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
from the sounds of it, the ways you two use are almost the same, mine on the other hand....
Do you chew the blanco block and then lick the webbing? ![]()
lol
