Hi,

Just thought I'd post what am bringing:

Waffen with - K98, MP40, P38 and MP44 (Untested yet though!) What did they chrono out of the box generally?

If needs be I can bring the MG36/ front end like a MG34 monstrosity - let me know if it is too embarrasing to use?

On a more serious note, it's amazing the difference the HMG mount makes to acuracy. the letterbox slots were from long bursts on the lafette whilst doing short traverses, the lower shots are fired from the bipod. Admitidly this was at very short range (5m) so it will be interesting to see how that translates at normal ranges. I dont think it will actually be that desireable to have such a tight concentration of fire, its more about keeping the amis heads down.

afraid not, Only Mr CW can set up private forums.

Given that the objectives will be given out during the day and its mission based there is only a limited value to tactics discussion.

I wouldn't worry about Webby - the AT specialist. The Germans have no armour, only the allies - so he'll just be following correct US tactics with friendly fire

I only meant things like squad orgainsation and roles etc, just so we can TRY to play as a proper gruppe with period tactics etc.
All with a view to upping the immersivness as much as possible. :good:

Great find Martin, an interesting if long read :good:

Sooo.... based on the manual and Gadge's OAB post confirming Carl as squad leader, may I be so bold as to suggest the following squad makeup:

Squad Leader (Carl) - MP40. Stays with and Commands MG team and commands rifle section when possible.
1st MG gunner - MG42
2nd MG gunner - MP40 + MG Ammo
3rd MG Gunner -MP40 + MG Ammo
2IC - MP40 or K98 (I'd like to nominate JD7 for this role?) Commands rifle section or entire squad as required.
Schützen - K98
Schützen - K98
Schützen - K98
(would be great if all the rifle section could use K98's, we have enough between us!)

I have suggested that the 2nd and 3rd gunners carry MP40 as they are the least cumbersome weapon and will interfere the least with the MG assisting.

We can all swap roles throughout the day so that no-one gets bored. I'm more than happy to let others take the 1st MG gunner role throughout the day as it will give me a break from carrying the 10KG beastie

So what do you think guys? I for one would love to see us look and operate like a proper ww2 german squad :good:

Squad set up looks good Boshman although I believe the standard set up would be for the 2IC to command the MG team forming the 3rd member and the squad leader would lead the assualt team. That would leave a 3 man MG team and a 5 man assualt team; the assualt team would be better off with the extra man too.
I would also suggest one of the MG team, probably the No2, carrying a rifle for a bit of extra reach. Its also easier to sling a K98 across your back leaving both hands completely free. Plus I plan to use my tanaka and I've already volunteered myself for the job.

The squad make up would then be;
Assault team- Squad leader (Mp40) + 4 men (K98s +maybe 1 or 2 MP44s/G43/FG42s if people have them)
MG team- 2IC (Mp40) + MG gunner (MG42) + MG assist (K98)

If the allied bookings fill up and we get more FJ then we can just up the size of the assualt team.
